Blog #29: Thanks for sticking with me for another year

Today it’s three sleeps until Christmas Day. It’s been a heck of a ride this 2021. COVID-19 lockdown, freedom, COVID-19 lockdown, freedom, COVID-19 lockdown, freedom, oh and wait, one more, short sharp (!?) 107 day Auckland lockdown just to round off the year. I’ve never felt so close, literally, to my husband and two kids.

But before the big guy in the red suit visits us, I just want to say a colossal, enormous, gigantic, huge, massive, immense, substantial, large THANK YOU for reading my blog posts for another year (and thanks to thesaurus.com for helping me out with expressing how big my gratitude is).

Thank you to everyone in New Zealand, the United States, Australia, the United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, Finland, Ireland, Sweden, Belgium, Norway, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Denmark, Republic of Moldova, Singapore, France, Czech Republic, Israel, Poland, United Arab Emirates, Austria, Hungary, Brazil, India, Chile, Spain, Croatia, Italy, South Africa, Switzerland, China, Mexico, Ukraine, Romania, Slovakia, Argentina, Greece, Japan, Portugal, Colombia, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Taiwan, Uganda, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Costa Rica, Estonia, Indonesia, Kenya, Republic of Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Philippines, Pakistan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Dominican Republic, Georgia, Isle of Man, Iraq, Iceland, Republic of Korea, Kuwait, Morocco, Nigeria, Panama, Peru, Seychelles and Turkey.

I’m humbled that my blog has reached people all over the world, and you’ve taken the time, often many times over, to read what I have to say. To have had my blog read by people in so many countries is a testament to the true nature of migraine – it affects so many people globally and so many of us are searching for the answers or looking to connect with others in a similar position.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading my ramblings.

To my fellow Migraine Down Under community who’ve joined me on our Facebook group, thank you. To be able to connect with others in New Zealand with migraine has been incredible, and every time someone reaches out to me via email or sends me a direct message, I’m so thankful you’ve taken the time to get in touch.

I’m excited about 2022. Not the part about COVID-19 still kicking us when we’re down, but I’m excited about next year and the progress of migraine awareness and support in New Zealand. Together with a few other passionate people, we’re launching New Zealand’s only migraine not-for-profit in early 2022, and I’m thrilled about the plans we have in place, and the supportive team of people around us, to make some changes in New Zealand for those of us with migraine.

Merry Christmas and happy holidays. Enjoy a well-earned break if you can, whether that’s a staycation or getting away from your home (and maybe your bubble mates) for a bit. Eat lots, sleep lots, but don’t go too crazy ‘cause you know your migraine brain copes best with routine!

Until next year, Sarah.

And as always, feel free to email me sarah@sayline.co.nz, join the conversation on Facebook, join the Migraine Down Under community or come say hi on Instagram.
